Gray Bees Compete in the Locker Northeast Regional Race
December 3, 2017
After the NJCTC Championships that took place on November 4th in Greystone Park, UDII Jalen Cabrera, UDII Jeron Jordan, SY Bryan Loja, and myself have decided to keep training for the Foot Locker Regionals in Van Cortlandt Park on November 25, 2017. This race was important because not only was it potentially the last race of the season, but it also allowed runners to qualify for the Foot Locker National Championships in San Diego, California. In order to qualify though, you have to come within the top ten of your race.
Head Coach Dave Alfano said, “You have all trained so hard for this. You will all compete well.”
In the Boys Championship Race, UDII Jeron Jordan was not able to qualify for nationals. However, he did run an impressive 16:37 and took 36th place out of 180. In the Junior/Senior race, I led the Gray Bees with a time of 19:30, which was over thirty seconds faster than the time I ran last year. I finished in 118th out of 213 runners. Behind me, finished Brayan Loja who took 144th place with a time of 20:09 and Jalen Cabrera who took 178th place with a time of 22:00.
Coach Alfano said, “The team performed great. Now they have to get ready for Indoor Track.”
