Every piece fell into place for the basketball team on Feb. 20 as the Gray Bees beat Blair 64-52 to become State Prep Champions.

Unlike their earlier matchup in the season, the Gray Bees were off to a good start. They finished the first quarter up by ten points, and extended the lead throughout the game. The Gray Bees were strong offensively; they only allowed Blair to outscore them in the fourth quarter.

Senior Bauramba Sidibe had a great night defensively. Despite finishing with four fouls, Bauramba blocked three shots and grabbed nine rebounds in total. Bauramba finished the game shooting 100 percent from the field.

UDII David Beatty struggled with finding his shot; he ended the game with nine points. Although he shot 25 percent from the field, he still found other ways to contribute to the team’s victory. In total, David led the team in assists picking up five.

Senior Arnaldo Toro finished the game with a double-double. He led the team in scoring with 17 points and grabbed ten rebounds in total.

This win was mainly attributed to the team’s rebounding total of 35. With this win the Gray Bee’s record now stands at 29-1.
