Volunteer Michael Caruso is working with College Guidance Counselor Delon McAllister helping seniors with their college essays. Though Mr.Caruso isn’t a graduate of St. Benedict’s, he has three relatives who attended St. Benedict’s including his father Anthony Caruso ‘71. Because he has a flexible schedule, he can work with seniors during their free periods and after school hours. He comes in every day.
After graduating from Hamilton College in New York, he wanted to volunteer somewhere where he could be helpful. His father advised him to try St. Benedict’s because he has a strong relationship with the school.
Mr. Caruso said the seniors seemed open to his comments and suggestions. He said the seniors took all of his suggestions positively.
Mr. Caruso wrote his own college essay on how he hated to be asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. He will be attending law school in the fall and now he can answer that question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
